H. Leon Sell
H. Leon Sell, 92, of Pottstown, widow of Caroline B. (Badman) Sell, died Sunday at Manor Care Health Center, Pottstown.
Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late John A. Sell and Sarah (Heckman) Sell.
Mr. Sell was a graduate of the Pottstown High School class of 1934, where he was a football captian. He was an engineer for the former Doehler Jarvis Corp. later Nation Lead Co. of Stowe for 45 years. Mr. Sell served in the United States Army during WWII, where he was stationed in England and France. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Pottstown. Mr. Sell was a former member of the Springford Country Club, where he was the former Golf champion for 2 years. He designed Twin Ponds Golf Course and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are one brother John R. Sell husband of Theresa M., Pottstown; one sister Mary S. Care, Gilbertsville; two nephews James & John Sell; one niece Karen Lewandowski. Five grand nephews Brad & Michael Reinert, Cole, Brian & Justin Sell and two grand neices Sarah Reinert & Madeline Sell.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday December 21, 2009 from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King Street, Pottstown. Officiating will be Rev. Burlington B. Latshaw III. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. There will be a viewing on Monday from 10:00am until 11:00am from the funeral home.
