  Jacob Gabriel Smith

Jacob Gabriel Smith, 17, of Newville, PA, formerly of Queen Street, Pottstown, died Monday in Newville, PA as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of Jeffrey Scott Smith and Tina Dee (Hampton) Smith.

Jacob attended Rupert Elementary school and Pottstown Middle school, Pottstown, PA until 8th grade. He then attended Big Springs Middle school, Newville, PA & both Big Springs High School, Newville, PA & Yellow Breeches Education Center, Carlisle, PA.

Jacob attended Nantmeal United Methodist Church, Glenmoore, PA, for many years.

He participated in the P.A.L. Deck Hockey league for several years. Jacob loved to go camping with his Aunt & Uncle and listen to Hip-Hop & R&B music. He also liked to cook. Jacob had inspirations of attending culinary art school one day and opening his own restaurant.

Surviving in addititon to his parents is one sister Brittany Elizabeth Smith, Newville, PA; who is currently a junior at Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA, majoring in Nursing. Maternal grandparents George M. husband of Brenda J. (Favinger) Hampton, Pottstown, PA; Paternal grandmother Gladys L. Smith, Glenmoore, PA; five uncles & five aunts, fourteen cousins, and five second cousins. He was preceeded in death by his paternal grandfather Franklin E. Smith.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 10, 2010 from the Nantmeal United Methodist Church, 359 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore, PA. Officiating will be Reverend Eric Ressler. Burial will be held in the Nantmeal United Methodist Cemetery, Glenmoore, PA. Relatives and Friends may call from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Friday April 9, 2010 from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King Street, Pottstown, PA; and from 10:00 until 11:00 am on Saturday April 10, 2010, from Nantmeal United Methodist Church, 359 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore, PA.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwood, PA 19004.

The family would like to encourage everyone to wear their seatbelt.
