Losing a loved one is never easy. People often feel alone and out of control. Planning a funeral can be a challenging task, especially when you're grieving.

In order to ease some of your pain, find ways to honor your loved one. This can make you feel close to them again. Honoring your loved one will also bring a little hope to you and everyone who cared about the deceased.

Finding ways to honor your family member doesn't have to be difficult. It can be as simple or elaborate as you want.

This guide will give you five ways to remember and honor your loved one at a funeral. Read on to make the planning process easier.

1. Play A Slide Show

During the funeral ceremony, you can play a slideshow with pictures and videos of your loved one that passed away. This can bring some positive energy to a sad day.

People will be able to remember the good times through the photos and hopefully be a bright spot. Playing special music or their favorite song, while the photos slide by is another way to add to it.

2. Send Off Lantern

Sending off lanterns or balloons with messages to your deceased can bring a lot of peace. It's a way to bring people together. The activity can be done with a small group of people or the entire community can be involved.

3. Conduct A Craft

A unique way to honor your loved one if they were passionate about creating things, is to conduct a craft. Whether it be painting or making jewelry, it's a beautiful way to celebrate their life.

4. Serve Their Favorite Food

After the funeral service, a great way to honor your loved one is to serve their favorite food or meal. You can have a specific restaurant catered to make it easier.

Everyone can sit together and enjoy their favorite meal and talk about memories and good times. You can even make a toast with their favorite beverage. Maybe they drank diet coke every day and having everyone in attendance toast with diet coke is an easy way to honor them and allow everyone in attendance to feel included.

5. Make A Donation

Another great way to honor your family member is to make a donation to a cause that they felt passionate about. For example, if they loved animals, you can ask attendants to donate to an organization that helps protect endangered species. You can present the donation amount or organization at the funeral.
