John J. McCabe

John (Jack) J. McCabe, 89, of Harleysville, loving husband of Peggy McCabe (Schmidmeister), passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2019, at The Birches in Harleysville.

Jack was born in Philadelphia; he was a son of the late John J. McCabe and the late Hannah Ruth McCabe (Woodward).

As a young man, Jack enlisted in the army and was stationed in the Philippines. After working a few odd jobs, he became a machinist at SKF, where he worked for more than forty years. Shortly after retirement, he and wife Peggy, move to Florida where they truly enjoyed the Floridian way of life. After 20 years in Florida, they came back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family.

Jack is survived by his wife Peggy McCabe of Harleysville, his daughter Lynnmarie J. Newman (husband Ronald) of Hightstown, NJ; two step-sons, Gene Becker (wife Carol) of Philadelphia, Sam Borrelli (wife Judy) of Allentown; step-daughter, Peggy Brennan-Albitz (husband Dana) of Green Lane, PA, his sister, Elizabeth Massei of Philadelphia; one grandson, Joshua, five step-grandchildren, Alicia, Jennifer, Sara, Alex, Vincent, as well as seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen G. McCabe (Peters), four brothers, two sisters, and his step-grandson, Sam.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
