Thomas Edward Brookover Jr. age 83, of Pottstown PA passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 27th 2022. Tom was a fellow most people referred to in his high school yearbook as a “real swell guy”. He always loved playing trumpet, singing and dancing, everything jazz and big band. He had a band he formed in school called the “Twighlighters”
Tom was born on January 15, 1939, the son of Thomas E. Brookover and Gladys Spence Brookover. He grew up in Downingtown, graduated from Downingtown High School, and went to Albright college and graduated from Eastern Baptist. He resided in Downingtown into his 30s. He was President of the Jaycees in his young adult years, and worked many years for New York Life Insurance. (Man of the Year in 70’)
He lived in Phoenixville , Jacksonville FL and spent his last 30 years in Pottstown. He enjoyed his placemat business, Power Ads there.
He also had a church “The Old Rugged Cross” in the 90’s through 2012 in Pottstown.
Tom was always quick with a joke and wanted to make sure everyone knew about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and talked freely about Him to many, always handing out tracts to anyone who was interested.
Tom’s beliefs were firm, his opinions strong and his heart huge.. He insisted on always being stocked with Pepsi in case anyone stopped in. He helped people struggling as best he could, always saying, "What do I have here to give them"? and always praying for everyone.
He leaves behind 4 children Thomas Brookover III, (Kari), Lisa Jones (Mark), Lauren Currie, Rebecca Chortyk (Roman), 8 Grandchildren and 3 Stepchildren, Jill Slawecki, Jacqueline Masicampo and Jack Pritchard along with his brother William Brookover and sister Mary Anne Geary.
Tom’s jokes, laughter, singing, happy messages and reminders to his kids to always be praying for each other will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Berean Bible Church, 2675 E. High St., Pottstown. Burial will be in Pottstown Cemetery - West. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
The services will start at the church.
