On August 29, 2022, JoAnn R. Durkin, surrounded by her children, Ron Mowery (Nancy), Lillian Willman (David), Christopher Mowery (Laura) granddaughter, Cristie Underwood (Dirone), and great grandson Kurt E. Willman, went peacefully to our Lord.
JoAnn was married to John Durkin for 39 years and 8 months, and was the daughter of Arthur Bradigan Davis and Carrie Lillian (Reeder) Davis of Shamokin, with three sisters: Phyllis Daniels, Apex, NC; Susan Hillegeist, Sacramento, CA; and Fern Spivy, Springfield, VA. She was predeceased by her sister Kathy Sees, Myrtle Beach, SC and her parents.
JoAnn was previously married to Harold Mowery, which resulted in three children, Ron, Lillian and Christopher. She was married for 25 years which ended in divorce.
JoAnn has four grandchildren, Bree Mowery, (Paul Kopf); Cristie Willman, (Dirone Underwood); Kurt Willman and Luke Mowery. She has two great grandchildren, Kurt E. Willman and Zoey Kopf.
JoAnn worked at Sunset Manufacturing, Workman Catering and then completed her LPN training at Reading Community College and worked for Dr. Joseph Zukowski; and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center until completing her Registered Nursing Degree at Montgomery County Community College. After passing her boards, she worked for 20 years and then retired in 1998.
JoAnn enjoyed trying new recipes and roaming the fields and streams with Kurty, her great grandson. She had a woodstove and used to pick up wood from the roadways. John and JoAnn traveled by motorhome, river boat and oceanliner to a wide variety of places.
She was an avid reader, who likes to tuck her own review of the book, in the front cover.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
Please instead of flowers, donations to Pottstown Area Police Athletic League where John is the President of the Board, are greatly appreciated.
