David R. Conard, 84, of Birdsboro, husband of Fern M. (Christ) Conard, passed away on Thursday September 15, 2022 at Reading Hospital, West Reading after a long-embattled recovery from surgery.

David was born in Gradyville, PA, he was a son of the late Henry Conard and the late Eleanor Conard.

David served his country honorably as a member of the US Army from 1956-1960 and was honorably discharged before starting a family in the Collegeville area.

Along with his wife Fern M. (Christ) Conard and daughter Christy Conard, he is survived by three sons David R Conard Jr. and wife Shannon along with their daughter Courtney, son Keith Lee Conard and wife Denise and their two sons Andrew and Justin, and son Curtis Allen Conard and his three children Eryn, Tyler and Ryan.

A lover of little league baseball, Mr. Conard had a successful tenor as the President of Lower Perkiomen Little League from 1968-1973 where he spearheaded the building of the Superior Tube baseball complex which the league used for almost three decades, including the first nighttime little league baseball in the area, when he got local businesses to donate the lights that were installed on the major league field.

Following his military service, he had a very successful career with Westinghouse as a national sales rep until 1977 when he then pursued his love of camping, as he was always an avid fisherman and outdoors man, into a distinguished career in the RV industry where he started as a sales rep for Tom Schaeffer's camping.

For more than four decades he exhibited an impeccable reputation as a manufacturer's rep for companies such as Skyline Corp out of Leola, Pa, Teton Homes, Casper, WY, and most recently Chinook RV, Elkhart IN.

After Chinook closed their doors following the recession of 2009, David enjoyed partial retirement, as he could never stay inactive for long, as salesperson for local dealers including FRETZ RV in Souderton, working Saturdays at the lot and being part of the Fretz RV show team.

David was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Amityville, where wife Fern is an active member of the bell choir.

He was predeceased by a brother, H. Eugene Conard and two sisters, Joy Settles, Janet Steele.

A military honors graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Avenue, Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend Eric Ressler, Sr. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. There will be no viewing.

A memorial/celebration of life gathering will be held for family and friends at son David R Conard Jr's residence in Skippack, PA immediately following the graveside service. Email for details at daveconard09@gmail.com
