In Loving Memory of George T. Smith
December 7, 1935 – May 16, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of George T. Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He left us on May 16, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain etched in our hearts.

Born on December 7, 1935, in Bryn Mawr, he was the son of James A. Smith and Dorothy K. Smith (nee Kavanaugh). George was a devoted husband to Patricia G. Smith (nee Grim), whom he married on November 16, 1957. He stood as a pillar of strength and support for his family throughout the years and provided endless joy and affection. His playful spirit and tender-hearted nature made him the ultimate storyteller, sharing tales that captivated others’ imaginations and created memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Beyond his role as a family man, George was a respected member of the community as an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stichter Masonic Lodge, and Boy Scouts. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, and he selflessly gave his time and energy to help others in need. Whether through lending a listening ear or extending a helping hand, he made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to cross his path.

In his leisure time, George’s undeniable passion for fishing was one he eagerly shared with his loved ones. He found solace in the quiet serenity of nature, casting his line into rivers and lakes. Whether it was the thrill of the catch or the tranquility of the surroundings, fishing brought him immense joy and happiness. His enthusiasm and passion for life were contagious; he brought joy to every moment he shared with family and friends.

Surviving with his wife of 65 years are four children; Rebecca M., wife of David Fuertsch; Melissa L., wife of Scott Reitmeyer; Christopher T., husband of Mark Moreno, and Jennifer R., wife of Donald Bergstresser Jr., along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Charlotte Street, Pottstown, PA, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023—visitation from 10 am to 11 am, with a service following at 11:30 am. The interment will be at Fairview Cemetary in Boyertown, PA.
