Died: May. 12, 2024
Charles Francis Hallman Jr., 76, of Gilbertsville, PA, husband of Judith L. (Kells) Hallman, entered peacefully into eternity with his loving Savior surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Born in Pottstown, PA he was the son of the late Charles Francis Hallman Sr. and Alice Mae (Royer) Hallman. Charlie’s love for learning and farming and hard work were fostered by his time spent with Millie and Wilmer on their farm across the street which he considered his second home. He graduated from Springford High School, but he would tell you it was the School of Hard Knocks that gave him his official diploma. His skills included construction, photography, kitchen design, and the art of witty remarks. He enjoyed all forms of baseball, whether it was softball with his church, wiffle ball with his kids, or watching a good Phillies game. Charlie loved playing card games with his friends or family, beating anyone in a game of skee ball or miniature golf, and playing Words with Friends. Few things gave him more joy than subtly showing off his level of intelligence by outsmarting the slot machines at Chuck E Cheese. Charlie was a long-time faithful dispatcher for the Pottstown Police Department, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police. He desired greatly to serve his Lord and family and those around him through his professional and personal commitments. Charlie’s life was always centered around his family and that included his church family from his youth at Mingo and his current church family at Berean Bible Church in Pottstown. He also was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam in support of the Cuban Missile Crisis Mission. One of his greatest loves and accomplishments was his dedication to the foster care system. He and his wife provided a loving home for many foster children through the Montgomery County Office of Children & Youth. Over the years Charlie & Judy were mom and dad to approximately 130 children, adopting 3 as their own. Charlie’s passion for ministering to foster children also led him to serve as a past president of the PA State Foster Parent Association. He was known to his family and co-workers as devoted, hardworking, and full of wit.

When we think of Charlie, “love” is the word that summarizes him best. He loved his job. He loved his coworkers (and even liked them most of the time). He loved his Lord and Savior. He loved his children. And he absolutely loved his wife. But he didn’t just say it, he lived it with every ounce of who he was.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife are six children, Barry Hallman and his wife Christine, Phoenixville, PA; Rebecca Lynn, wife of Joshua Brackbill, Morgantown, PA; Charles Benjamin Hallman and his wife Erin, Spring City, PA; Laura Elizabeth, wife of Chris Gilbert, Fayetteville, PA; Bethany Hallman, wife of Ricardo Alcivar, Lebanon, PA; and Jaylin Charles B. Hallman, Gilbertsville, PA. Two sisters, Margaret, wife of the late Bernard Marie, Canton, CT; and Doris Hallman, Seneca Falls, NY, and 19 grandchildren, Benji, Chandler, Ryan, Grace, Caroline, Charlie, Luke, Ava, Jacob, Emilyn, Pearl, Caedence, Sammy, Elizabeth, Kate, Everlee, Jackson, Emilia, and James.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Berean Bible Church, 2675 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
