Nancy (DelVecchio) Hurley, 78, of Gilbertsville, PA, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Pottstown Hospital.
Born on May 11, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the loving daughter of the late Michael DelVecchio and the late Estelle R. (Gompers) DelVecchio.
Nancy was the devoted mother of one daughter, Tara T. wife of John J. McMahon III of Gilbertsville, PA, and one son, Michael J. Hurley husband of Sarah F. (DiBartolo) Hurley of Glassboro, NJ; caring mommom to seven grandchildren, Jake, Michael, and Morgan McMahon, and Eva, Grayson, Lila, and Nora Hurley; loving sister to Marion (DelVecchio) Slimmer wife of the late Burton K. Slimmer; aunt to Scott Slimmer and Stacy (Gaetano) Storace; great-aunt to Braidon and Baylee Storace; also survived by many cousins.
Nancy graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1964. She was a diligent employee at several companies including Unique Industries where she oversaw the accounting department until she retired in 2004. Her selflessness called her to serve as a volunteer for over 20 years at the Make-A-Wish Foundation where she acted as the Philadelphia Coordinator. During this time of service, she helped to fulfill the final dreams of hundreds of terminally ill children
.
Nancy was the heart of her family. Throughout her life, she displayed perseverance, kindness, and a love for all but especially children and animals. She instilled these traits in her children, and they will be carried on in their lives and the lives of her grandchildren as her lasting legacy.
Her strong faith and belief in God were evident in her daily prayers for the ones she loved and for all those in need.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 12:00pm until 4:00pm at River Winds Restaurant, 1075 Riverwinds Drive, Deptford, NJ 08086. If you plan on attending, please email mikeh@matriarchllc.com by August 5, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nancy’s name to St. Jude’s Hospital or the SPCA.
